Please note that you can start submitting work immediately on any subject about which you feel passionate. Work can be submitted online, posted to FREEPOST PO Box 706 Auckland or faxed to 09 373 6529 (written work only). All work must be accompanied by an entry sheet.Choose a general or weekly theme or submit work on any topic you like. Submission of all work is subject to The College Herald terms and conditions. Just about anything. Written work can include articles, interviews, essays, reports, poetry, letters to the editor and investigative journalism. Graphic work can include painting, digital imaging, photography, cartoons, collages and sketches. The College Herald Editor selects 20 pieces of work each week. As with other newspapers, the decision to publish rests solely with the editor. The College Herald is distributed with The New Zealand Herald, meaning published work is to over half a million readers each week.Two of the pieces will be nominated as "Editor's Choice". The “Editor’s Choice Weekly Theme” winner will receive an HP iPAQ Pocket PC and $500 for their school. The “Editor’s Choice General Theme” winner will receive an HP Photosmart printer. The remaining 18 students will each win a Bank of New Zealand bank account* with an opening balance of $100. Every student who sends in work, regardless of whether they are published or not, will go in the weekly draw to win an iPod Nano and will also be recognised in a special College Herald edition at the close of the programme. The names of all participating teachers and students will also be included in a personal letter and certificate sent to the school principal. *Bank of New Zealand's normal account opening criteria apply.
