The College Herald is back for the fifth year running. Another chance for your students to express themselves and anything that’s important to them – in print, in New Zealand’s biggest daily paper.
As ever, the College Herald is a terrific way to inspire your students and to recognise great work they’ve already done. Your students also get the chance to win some great prizes for themselves and your school.

Your class time is valuable, we know that, so we’ve given your students direct access all the information they need - here. All you and your staff need to do is countersign and authorise any entries.
You may already have seen the College Herald resource book for 2006, but if you haven’t you can download a copy here. The book contains a full schedule for the 2006 programme along with a detailed list of topics and curriculum links.
You’ll see how the programme has been designed to support your NCEA curriculum objectives, making it straightforward to build College Herald assignments into your classwork if you wish. Of course, the other benefit is that your students may already have done work suitable for publication. All you’ll have to do is enter it.

With a prize pool of $80,000, your students will be well rewarded when their work appears.
Each week your students could win an HP iPAQ Pocket PC (and $500 for your school), an HP Photosmart Printer or one of 18 Bank of New Zealand bank accounts* with an opening balance of $100. Plus, everyone who submits a piece of work will go in the draw to win an iPod Nano whether they are published or not.
But the real motivation lies in seeing their work published. Being recognised in New Zealand’s highest circulation newspaper is a significant milestone for any student - and a credit to your school.
